Objective: We sought to investigate whether oral antibiotics are necessary, after 48 hours of clinical improvement, in uncomplicated septic abortion. Study design: In a randomized double-blind clinical trial, 56 women with uncomplicated septic abortion were treated with intravenous antibiotics, followed by uterine evacuation. On hospital discharge (day 1), patients were randomized to receive either oral doxycycline plus metronidazole or placebo, until completing 10 days of treatment.

The studies suggest that administration of a prophylactic antibiotic reduces febrile morbidity after abortion, regardless of the drug used, the dose given, or the time of administration in relation to the abortion. When selecting an antibiotic regimen, ideally, prophylactic antibiotics for women undergoing curettage abortion should provide therapeutic endometrial tissue levls of the drug used, be effective against common uterine pathogens, and be active at the time of operation.

You don't need to take antibiotics with abortion pills, because the likelihood of infection is so remote. You should, however, avoid putting anything into the vulva until heavy bleeding stops, in order to really cut back on the likelihood of infection. Another thing to understand is the fact that bleeding after taking abortion pills varies.

Hi i was given the same, Doxycycline 100mg after my abortion and the medication specifically indicates that no antacids should be consumed while taking the medication. The prescription also indicates that you should not consume dairy products one hour before, or two hours after ingesting the medication because it is thus less effective.
